John Moyle Contest results for 2013.

I have just had a look at the results for JMFD.

In 1st place for the 24hr Multi Op Phone Section is. VK2HZ

Well it would look like the move to a better operation position has paid
off for us.

Great work to our club and the members that committed their time for
this contest.

If you would like to see the placings, have a look at

Jeanne KC2IOV

For the last few nights on about 7.145 MHz I have been in contact with Jeanne KC2IOV and Eric WA7LNH.
Jeanne is attempting for the third time to sail around the world single handed, without stopping.
Hopefully this time she will be successful.
There have been lots of contacts from all over, so if anyone is interested try her from about 11PM our time.

2m Repeater Outage

On Monday 11th February 2013 between 7:20 and 9:30 am it was noted that our 2m VK2RBM was down. Richard VK2BO attended the reapeater site the next day Tuesday 12th February 2013 between 9:00 and 11:00 am to clear the fault and repair the repeater which was a 15 Amp fuse replacement.

Thank you Richand VK2BO for the getting our repeater on air and Rhod VK2TTL for the report.

Happy New Year

A letter from out VP - Kevin.

Good Morning Members,

On behalf of the Committee I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the members and their families a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year.

2012 has been a busy year for BMARC with a move into our new club room and the work that has been accomplished there, we still have a long way to go, so a big thank you to all the members that put in their time and effort on the working bee weekends to bring the club to what it is today. There will be more weekends the club will be opening in 2013, so lets keep up the good work and continue our renovation to get the club room to where we want it.

It has also been a Big year for the Club nets on 2m and 80m, a big thanks to Bob (AOR) for hosting these each week and sending a Net report twice weekly, a great effort and really good PR for other hams to hear our club call out and about on the air, thanks again Bob and to all the operators that stepped up and had a go.

We have had Bunnings BBQ’s, JOTA, John Moyle, Running Wild and more, all of which are great Events and bring the members together to do what our hobby is all about. So a big thank you to those members who took the lead, organized and ran these events on behalf of the club and to the members who donated their time to assist at these events, they are a great earner for the club and with Running Wild a good opportunity to use our hobby in a Support role.

Once again on behalf of the committee we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

See you all in 2013

Regards

Phil Derbyshire

Past President Phil Derbyshire now - Silent Key.

Firstly some information about our past president Phil Derbyshire from Liz....

It is with great sadness that I write to advise you that my beautiful husband, Phil, succumbed to his long battle with cancer early yesterday evening (20/12). A service will be held for Phil next Thursday 27 December at 11:00 am at the Orange Crematorium Chapel, in Lone Pine Avenue, Orange, with an informal gathering afterwards for tea/coffee in the function room of Orange Funeral Services (next door to the Crematorium, cnr of Lone Pine Avenue and Cameron Place). In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make an “in-memory donation” in Phil’s name to the NSW Cancer Council (www.cancercouncil.com.au), which will help fund the ongoing quest to find a cure for this devastating disease.

Due to the Christmas/New Year holidays, it is not possible to place notices in local papers prior to the service, so please pass on these details to anyone whom you believe may wish to know, as I don’t have contact details for the many people into who’s lives Phil brought his own brand of sunshine – in particular work colleagues, old school friends, members of the Blue Mountains and Orange Radio Clubs, members of the Faulconbridge Bush Fire Brigade.

thank you,
Liz

Bob Paton - We will all miss him for sure.

The news of Bob Paton VK2ABP & VK0BP was broadcast on the WIA news Sunday
14th October of his death.

Bob was a regular visitor to the Mt Ovens camp site on J.M.F.D's.

Both Bob & Ingrid Paton were members of BMARC for a couple of years.

Bob was best known around the world for his passion in amateur radio
whilst stationed in the Antarctic for about 18 months several years ago.
He also had a great desire to return to the base down there.

He was an instigator in getting the Bathurst, Orange area active in
Amateur Radio, also the custodian of the IRLP node.

I will miss him for sure.
So will all the guys from Bathurst / Orange.
He was also a WiFi guru, and shared his know how and helped make that area "Radio Active".
A brilliant and very friendly guy.

That is such a shock for me.

Depression is such a terrible thing.

So if you're feeling distressed support IS available by phoning Lifeline on 13 11 14
Mensline on 1300 789 978
or BeyondBlue on 1300 22 4636

I will end this post with a quote from his Facebook page when describing himself...
"what is there to say... I always try to see the good in everybody, and every situation :) Life is too short not to enjoy yourself."

I am finding it very diffcult to see the keyboard right now.

His funeral will be held at 11AM on Saturday 20th October 2012.

73 and take care.

Erik VK2EJH.
