The Last Days of the MIR Spacestation

Spacestation MIR was left unmanned at the end of August 1999 after an extended life of 11years.

The day before the vehicle was abandoned, BMARC and Nepean AR Group members were chatting with Jean-Pierre via 2m FM simplex.

This SSTV image was sent to W8ZCF just before departure.

This SSTV image was sent to Henry, VK2BHG, the day before departure.
The switchmode interference on the picture was due to the fact that the SSTV gear had just been transferred to the main module in readiness for departure.
